Logo Work
The Objective
Creating and presenting a series of potential logo designs for two small businesses.
The Method
In addition to illustration commissions, I have been contracted for logo work several times. Displayed on this page is the branding of Alesco Design Solutions, a landscaping firm based out of Phoenix, Arizona (view their website here), and of Tim Scott, a New York City-based theatrical contractor.
In the case of Alesco Design Solutions, specialties of the firm include environmental planning, placemaking, aesthetics, and sustainability. It also prides itself in its local Arizona presence. With this in mind, I set out to craft the logo that would best represent their values.
Several typeface variants that were presented during the development of the Alesco logo. Lusitana wins out in the end.
It is pertinent to establish where a logo will appear, as well. Alesco's logo(s) were planned for use in signage, printed documents, sticker sheets, and on a website, indicating that the logos should be exported in PNG and SVG format to accommodate these mediums. The main logo takes on a rectangular shape, but several variants of the final design also appear on a 4 x 6 inch sticker sheet.
The Lesson
The branding project of Alesco is one of the first design ventures I have ever completed in a professional setting. I'm accustomed to contacting clients via social media and email, but this project allowed me to meet with a client face-to-face and develop a personal understanding of their needs. It was an excellent real-world experience.
